Good research conduct is integral to a healthy research environment. It is important that research is carried out to the highest standards of scientific and ethical practice, taking into account the wider impacts of research and innovation (with the aim of avoiding unintended consequences), and managing the potential risks associated with international research collaboration, protecting research and staff from theft, misuse, and exploitation.
Imperial expects all staff and students to promote and maintain a culture of honesty, openness and responsibility, enabling all research to be conducted with integrity, one of our core Values. As an institution, we are signatories of the UK Concordat to Support Research Integrity (pdf) and the Concordat on Openness on Animal Research and we have adopted the government’s Universal Ethical Code for Scientists. We also provide guidance and training to staff and students across a wide range of areas.
