Imperial is participating in Jisc’s Read and Publish agreement with the American Chemical Society (ACS) from January 2022 until the end of December 2024.  

This means that corresponding authors affiliated with Imperial may publish their articles open access in all hybrid or fully OA titles including ACS Omega, JACS Au, and the ACS Au collection without cost to them. Imperial staff and students will also have read access to existing ACS journals from the current year to 1996, or to Volume 1 if published more recently.

To be eligible for open access fees to be covered via this agreement, the corresponding author must be at Imperial, and the article must have been submitted between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2024. ACS will automatically identify these authors based on their institutional affiliation. Upon acceptance of the manuscript, APS will notify the author that their work can be published under an open CC-BY license without paying article processing charges. Articles that are additions or corrections or editorials are not eligible in addition to chapters or portions of e-books. 

Where eligible articles were published in 2022 prior to the release of the agreement the ACS have implemented a process to enable any APCs paid to be refunded.
