Beyond Open Research: Understanding what matters for quality and reliability
- What really matters in research?
- What practices and behaviours lead to the highest-quality research?
- How can we recognise and incentivise those good practices?
These are some of the questions we’ve been asking in a Library-led, university-wide project on enhancing research culture since January 2024.
The first phase of the project looked at the challenges and opportunities of embedding transparency, quality and scrutiny into the research data life cycle.

Semi-structured interviews from the project
We complemented the workshops with a series of semi-structured interviews with subject experts in research culture and assessment, public applications of research data, and data quality and transparency.
