Roni Permana Saputra is a PhD student at the Robot Intelligence Lab, Imperial College London, since January 2017. His supervisor is Dr Petar Kormushev.
Roni received his BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering from Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Indonesia and the MEngSc degree in Mechanical Engineering (with Mechatronics specialisation) from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. He receives full financial support for his PhD programs through the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education - LPDP.
His research interests include autonomous mobile robot, mobile robot navigation, model predictive control, and robot perception. Currently, he is also part of the research group of mechatronics, Research Centre for Electrical Power and Mechatronics, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Indonesia.
For the duration of his PhD, Roni has developed the ResQbot search-and-rescure robot, capable of autonomous casualty extraction. More information about Roni can be found on his personal page.
