In August 2021 MEdIC at Imperial College London (Medical Education Innovation and Research Centre) ran the Global Unity Creative Competition.
Medical students from around the world were invited to submit creative responses on the theme of Global Unity. Students could submit creative work including painting, drawing, sculpture, illustration, graphic art, comics, photography, textiles, short film, animation, music and spoken word.
We also asked that students submit a short written reflection detailing why they have made the piece, what it means to them personally and how this reflects the theme of global unity.
We were overwhlemed by the response of our worldwide community of students and their incredible creative talents. It was a real challenge for our shortlisting team to narrow down the finalists.
The winners were decided by audience vote at the online awards ceremony on Wednesday 17 November 2021 at 1.00pm GMT. You can watch the ceremony again on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/Xxcx7Zv9G5c
Congratulations to our winners Aashley Muthuri (University Of Nairobi, Kenya) and Zainab Ifthikar (Alfaisal University, Saudi Arabia) and to Lloyd Anicier Barba (Far Eastern University, Philippines) and Bongkem Sylvie Kathleen Fomum (Catholic University Of Cameroon (CATUC) who were voted runners-up .
