Coordinated by the Institute for Security Science & Technology (ISST), the Research Institute in Trustworthy Inter-Connected Cyber-Physical Systems (RITICS) was set up in 2014.

It was one of three cybersecurity institutes established by the UK Government in conjunction with EPRSC. RITICS then relaunched in 2018, funded by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) in partnership with the EPSRC.

Initially, RITICS’ focus was cyber threats to industrial control systems. It has since expanded to address challenges across all critical systems.
