Silwood isn't all about hard work and study. Our students unwind by taking part in a range of clubs and activities - there is something for everyone. And there's also the opportunity for students to start their own! In the past there have been societies for karaoke, film, bees, gardening and arts and crafts - amongst many more.
Here is a selection of activities that are currently available:
Clubs 1

Book Club
An informal group, open to all Silwood staff and students. Plenty of biscuits provided! A new title is released each month, with copies available to borrow. Some books generate a lot of discussion! There is an ongoing suggested book titles list and members vote on future books, as well as a ‘lucky dip’ book.

Cider Club
Every year students and staff work together to make Cider from scratch with apples from the Silwood orchard. The process usually commences at the start of term, with the cider being ready to drink at Silmas (our Silwood Christmas event).
Clubs 2

Chicken club
A very active and popular club!
There are 24 brown hens, one pekin bantam hen (Betty Boo), one big cockerel, one little silkie bantam cockerel (Kenny), three white baby chicks growing fast (Kendra, Freddie and Cooper) plus 15 rescue hens. Students join forces to take care of the chickens and manage their wellbeing. The hens produce plenty of eggs for the Silwood community!

Silmas
One of the most anticipated events of the Silwood calendar is the Silmus Christmas celebration, which is joined by the whole Silwood community. The day starts off with a 5K fun run (or walk), followed by professor’s punch and Christmas carols around the piano, then a delicious lunch.
Silfest
Silfest is Silwood Park’s summer festival, in collaboration with the Imperial College Union.
Silfest is a small festival held on campus organised by students for students and the wider community. Games, music, food, drink, dancing and nature. A highlight of the year and an evening not to be missed!
