AB  - Solar Orbiter will, among many other advances, provide us with unique measurements of waves and turbulence in the inner heliosphere. We discuss expectations of conditions over the orbit of the spacecraft that are relevant to turbulence studies, such as solar wind speeds and Alfven Mach number, based on earlier Helios data. We describe some of the topics within solar wind turbulence research that the mission will address, as well as some of the challenges that will be faced.
