Travel Insurance
Imperial College provides comprehensive business travel insurance through American International Group UK Limited (AIG) for staff and students. This policy covers:
- Emergency Medical Assistance: Reasonable medical expenses abroad.
- Security: AIG’s Travel Assistance App, offering 24/7 support for emergencies and security issues while traveling. This service helps with both medical and security-related concerns, ensuring you have access to real-time information and guidance throughout your trip.
- Travel Disruptions: Additional travel and accommodation expenses incurred due to uncontrollable changes in travel plans.
- Personal Belongings: Protection for personal belongings in case of loss, theft, or damage.
- Personal Liability: Coverage for third-party liability while on business travel.
Important Notes:
Travel Restrictions: Always review the Foreign, Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) travel advise before booking. If no advisory is in place at the time of booking and one later arises, the policy will cover reasonable costs for trip cancellation or postponement. However, if you book during a restricted advisory, coverage will be limited, likely excluding cancellation or changes, as the risk was known. Medical expenses will still be covered.
Sanctioned Countries: If you are travelling to any of the following countries please complete and return to Insurance@imperial.ac.uk in good time for your planned trip as insurers need to confirm cover is in place.
Iran, Cuba, Syria,Sudan,North Korea, Venezuela, Russia or Ukraine (Crimea and Sevastopol)
