This workshop (offered face to face or online) provides an insight into understanding research impact and the practical steps you can take to make an impact through your doctoral research. This will help you to get the most out of your doctorate for your future career – be that inside or outside academia. During this course you will follow a case study to guide you through planning your own pathway to impact, whilst learning about the training and events available to help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to meet your impact goals.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this workshop you will be able to: 

  • Identify what is meant by research impact and why it matters 
  • Recognise a range of impact activities involving diverse stakeholders 
  • Recognise the wider impact agenda 
  • Evaluate the importance of research impact to institutions such as Imperial.
