Public speaking should not only be to inform or express your thoughts but also change emotions, actions and attitudes of your audience. This course will provide you with tips on how to become a successful public speaker. Topics covered include overcoming your fears when presenting, taking control of the stage through audience engagement, voice projection and the use of language.

Course Information

This course requires you to watch a video and then create a 3-minute PowerPoint presentation as a pre-course requirement. In the live session, you will be presenting to a mixed-discipline audience and receive feedback on your presentation.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Employ techniques to overcome the fears of public speaking
  • Recognise the key components for giving a successful presentation
  • Develop your voice projection
  • Evaluate the quality of presentations and provide constructive feedback
