Established in 2020 to support Black postgraduate research students, the BDN is a student-run community to share joys and struggles, and to provide strong roots to navigate an environment that is often hostile to ethnic minorities.
The aims of the Network are to:
- Provide a space to connect Black researchers across the college
- Support Black MRes and PhD students at all stages through knowledge-transfer, peer support and social activities
- Organise and host events to showcase work and connect with students from other universities
- Build a network of Black researchers across the academic pipeline, collaborating with the College’s Black Postdoctoral Network
