This course aims to examine the benefits of inclusive practice in research and innovation and how your identity can influence your viewpoint. Participants will identify how to build and expand the impact of their research or innovation, by including diverse audiences and perspectives in every stage. Identification of opportunities for inclusivity will make projects more impactful and increase the tangible contribution of their work to greater equity and social justice in society.

Course Information


This course includes pre-course activities (~60 minutes) to complete before the live session; you will receive the credit by completing both the pre-course activities and engaging in the live session (120 minutes).

Learning Outcomes


On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Examine how identity shapes how you perceive yourself, others and the world around you.
  • Identify limitations inherent in a research process that lacks inclusivity.
  • Assess how diverse and inclusive your research team and project are.
  • Plan concrete actions to make your project/innovation inclusive to deliver impact for society.
