Finding a job, whether that is within or outside academia, can take time and lot of effort. So how do you approach this task strategically? This workshop will help you to identify up to date resources and a range of methods to make your job-hunting as organised and diverse as possible.
This course is delivered by the Imperial Careers Service, who support all current PhD students with their careers and PhD graduates for up to three years after graduation.
Course Information
You will be referred to two optional activities to complete before the course. These should take no more than 30 minutes. Completing the activities will enable you to get more out of attending the course.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course you will be better able to:
- Identify the breadth of the PhD job market
- Analyse skills gained from your PhD and formulate tailored statements to sell these to future employers
- Develop a proactive strategy to hunt for jobs, including networking, online approaches and targeted speculative applications
- Create and maintain your professional online profile
- Know how to access further support from The Careers Service
