This blended course gives you the opportunity to enhance your communication competencies to effectively communicate your project to an audience, as well as present and gain feedback.

Course Information

This course includes pre-course activities to complete before the live session to engage with during the course: you will receive the credit by participating in all pre-course (1h30) and course activities.

Pre-course activities will prepare you for the live session: you will have short videos to watch and a handout to consult, which will provide you with information, advice and strategies to prepare and present an engaging and inclusive presentation. You will need to prepare a 3-minute presentation about “How your research project impacts science and society”.

In the live course you will clarify doubts and practice your presentation in front of an interdisciplinary audience,  and give and receive feedback. Live sessions are available on different dates as online interaction or as in-person workshop.

Notes:

  • The first part of the live session includes discussion and some Q&A regarding presentations
  • The deadline for registration is 2 weeks before the live course to allow the completion of pre-course activities
  •  This course does not cover the use of software
  • You will need to send your pre-course activity to the tutor by 17h the day before the live course (details in the reminder email).

Doctoral students who wish to gain presentation skills relating to communication in public engagement, are recommended to attend the courses in the Research Impact Programme,  ‘Public Engagement and Outreach’ suite.
