Two-way engagement with stakeholders is important for informing the way research is conducted to ensure quality, applicability and impact. In this masterclass run by Imperial’s Public Engagement team (open to both Imperial doctoral students and staff), participants will have the opportunity to explore the benefits of engaging the public in participatory research, when it is appropriate/beneficial to take this approach with your engagement and the key considerations to ensure responsible research and innovation. We will explore power dynamics and how to build trust, through the use of case studies and group activities. This session is relevant to anyone considering a participatory approach during part or all of the research cycle.
Participants are strongly advised to attend the GS accredited Core Public Engagement Masterclass, or have equivalent skills, before attending this session.
Course Information:
The live, interactive session involves practical examples and tasks, with group activities and the opportunity to consider your own research within the context of engaging the public in a participatory research approach
