Although primarily to support students of Black heritage, The Power of Mentorship, which is funded by Research England, is open to any student (UG, PGT and Research Degree) who is interested in learning more the value of being a mentor or mentee.  A panel of speakers will share their experiences and there will be time to ask questions.  In addition, there will be information about the new Activate mentoring programme and funding for international opportunities.  The event will end with a networking reception.

Programme Outline:

• 16.00 – 16.05: Welcome and introduction from our Chair, Wayne Mitchell, Senior Teaching Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine
• 16.05 – 17.10: Sharing experiences on the value of mentoring and audience Q&A.  Our confirmed speakers so far are:
• Oreoluwa Kolawole, Regional Category Manager, GB Foods Africa
• Miguel Maria das Neves Sousa Pereira, Consultant Data Scientist
• George Imafadin - George is an Amos Bursary Alumni, he studied Mechanical Engineering at UCL and whilst a student Co-Founded Motivez.  George is currently working as a Performance Engineer on Sir Lewis Hamilton’s X44 Team
• Funto Babajide-Ojo - Undergraduate medical student in the Faculty of Medicine, Amos Bursary Scholar and Entrepreneur.
