The refurbishment of the lab space was completed in April 2025 delivery of key pieces of equipment and receipt of the laser systems due for later in the year.
The first diffraction experiments are expected by the end of 2026.
Lab space
The LUXD lab space, consists of a lower main lab which will house the Lasers, X-ray Plasma source and detectors.
All the chillers, vacuum pumps, air handling and other lab facilities are housed in dedicated plant room positioned directly above the main LUXD lab to reduce noise and decouple vibrations from the instruments.
