Raising a Request for Change (RFC)



Steps:

  1. Type in the username and password. Click log in to enter.

  2. Click on 'Change Management'.

  3. Click the Change Forms (RFC) link.

  4. Click the Request for Change (RFC) Raise an RFC link.

  5. Click the How urgent is this change? option.  In this example, click on 'Normal'.

  6. Click the Please indicate the level of risk associated with this change option.  In this example click on 'low'.

  7. Click in the Please select the person endorsing this change field.

  8. Enter the desired information into the Please select the person endorsing this change field. Enter "Paul Carter" for this example.

  9. Enter the desired information into the Please select the service affected by this change field. Enter "Blackboard" for this example.

  10. Click in the Please enter a short description of this change field.

  11. Enter the desired information into the Please enter a short description of this change field. Enter "Upgrade Blackboard to version 10" for this example.

  12. Click in the Please tell us what you are Changing and explain why there is a requirement to make this Change.

  13. In this example type:  "Blackboard needs to be upgraded to version 10 so that the new updates are visible and functioning for all users.".

  14. Click the What is the origin of this change? list.

  16. Click in the Please enter the Work Package/Project reference field.

  18. Click the Choose date... button.

  24. Click in the Estimated duration of any downtime expected for this change (minutes/hours) field.

  25. Enter the desired information into the Estimated duration of any downtime expected for this change (minutes/hours) field. Enter "60 minutes", for example.

  26. Click in the Please provide details of your implementation for this Change field.

  27.  Please provide details of your implementation for this Change field. For example enter "A notification will go out to all users who will be affected by this change. The Database Administrators will disconnect the software.  The software will be upgraded".

  28. Click in the Please provide details of the Backout plan for this Change field.

  29. Type: "A roll back to version 9." for this example.
