Our fields host sites for several national and international research networks that through collaborative research help finding patterns in nature and produce resources at  wider spatial and temporal scales.

  • The Ecological Fractal Network studies diversity at several spatial scales to measure species assemblage homogenisation and structure.
  • The Nutrient Network (NutNet) aims to understand the impact of fertilization and alteration of plant-consumer interactions on grassland ecosystems.
  • The BugNetwork goal is to assess the impact of invertebrate herbivores and pathogenic fungi on plant communities and ecosystems.
  • The Rothamsted Research Suction Trap Network has monitored the abundance of aphids and other insects across the UK since 1968.
  • The Bioscan project, by the Wellcome Sanger Institute, studies the genetic diversity of flying insects to create resource for DNA-based biomonitoring in the UK.
  • Aquacosm - EU network of mesocosm facilities for research on marine and freshwater ecosystems open for global collaboration.
