Silwood Park is an ideal location to host your independent research fellowship.

If you are a postdoctoral researcher with a strong track record and exciting ideas for your future research then a Research Fellowship may be the best route to pursue your academic career.

Research Fellows set up their own independent research groups with the support from a mentor or host.

We are keen to support applications for research fellowships in ecology, evolution, environmental sciences, and cross-disciplinary research in allied fields.

Why should you apply for a fellowship to come to Silwood Park?

Silwood is a small friendly campus in a beautiful landscape that fosters collaboration and academic growth.

  • Extensive grounds and long-term field experiments offer a unique resource for developing your research program.
  • State-of-the-art laboratories and facilities, including Controlled Environment Rooms, greenhouses, and molecular and microbiology labs.
  • A lively postgraduate and postdoctoral community, with weekly seminars and discussion groups focused on the latest research.

There are several schemes that are open to applicants each year. Closing dates are typically in the summer/autumn to start the following academic year. In addition to advertised deadlines, we have internal deadlines for all applicants so please contact us as early as possible.

If you are interested in applying for a fellowship scheme, the first step is to contact a relevant member of academic staff to act as a host or sponsor. Once a member of staff has agreed to act as a host, they can guide you through the application process.
