Our welcoming community
Our friendly campus offers a range of spaces for you to meet new people, work, relax and create.
As well as working with an academic in our department, many of our PhD students also have supervisors with external collaborators, for example Kew Gardens, the Natural History Museum or ZSL London Zoo.
You will have access to all the research facilities and long-term field experiments running at Silwood and you will become part of our friendly community of students and staff. During your PhD you will become embedded in a research lab where you will be trained to a high level of laboratory, fieldwork, and computer-based skills as needed to meet your project aims. You can prepare yourself for future careers by selecting from a broad menu of professional skills training and you can gain teaching experience as well as earn some extra money by signing up to become a graduate teaching assistant. Our unique and flexible environment is able to accommodate a variety of options you may choose for your research and free time.
