Exciting proposals for a new development beneath the Westway

Imperial held a public consultation in March 2024 on proposals to create a welcoming meeting point at the centre of the White City Campus with two new buildings located under the Westway.

This is an opportunity to animate and enhance a vacant area under the Westway to create an attractive destination.

The consultation asked local people for their feedback on the plans for Development Zone 1 of Imperial’s White City Campus Masterplan.

The plans for Development Zone 1 would deliver:

• Two new buildings that provide a welcoming meeting point at the centre of the White City Campus.
• One building would provide a range of uses that would be open to the Imperial community of students, staff and partners.
• The other building would be a commercial food and beverage offer that would be open to all and provide a new amenity for the local community to enjoy.
• New public spaces, designed to create welcoming places that could be used for community activities and by users of the White City Campus.
• A key link under the Westway that would connect White City Campus and the local area via new pedestrian routes.
• Planting and biodiversity, in line with Imperial’s Net Zero Carbon 2040 Agenda, and which creates a vibrant green place to spend time.

Our consultation is now over, and a planning application has been submitted to Hammersmith & Fulham Council.
