New portraits

Sian Harding, Emeritus Professor of Cardiac Pharmacology at Imperial's National Heart and Lung Institute and Artworks Group Chair until 2022, in front of her portrait painted by Keith Holmes in 2022.

Narinder Singh Kapany (1926–2020), by Keith Holmes, 2023. A founder of fibre optic communications, his work started with PhD studies in Imperial's Department of Physics in the early 1950s.

Letitia Chitty (1897–1982), by Keith Holmes, 2023. A pioneer in Imperial's Department of Civil Engineering from 1934 to 1962, her mathematical analysis of structural stresses won many professional prizes and accolades.

A team of students has won this year's University Challenge competition, the fifth Imperial team to do so – putting Imperial at the top of the BBC quiz tournament's league table of winners. (Picture © BBC)
