The group is a lead member of the Research Centre in Nondestructive Evaluation (RCNDE). The Centre was formed in 2003 and is based at a consortium of universities led by Imperial College and University of Strathclyde. The other members of the consortium are the Universities of Bristol, Manchester, Nottingham, Warwick, Liverpool and Southampton. Until 2022 the RCNDE was co-funded by EPSRC and industry. Currently, it is fully industry funded, however the industrial membership is keen to work with the academic community to leverage research funds to enable innovative technical excellence with industrial applicability.
Current industrial members are Rolls-Royce, Airbus, dstl, BAE Systems, BP, Amentum, Petrobras, EDF Energy, Hitachi, IHI and regulatory bodies such as the ONR and NDA.
The Director of the Centre is Caroline Bull who has wide experience of NDE in both industry and academia. Further information on the centre from Caroline and her team at rcndeinfo@ndevr.org.uk or at www.rcnde.ac.uk.
An NDE focussed CDT based at The University of Bristol is associated with the RCNDE and is accepting new studentships. More information can be found here.
