Sports Awards Tickets

Tickets for Sports Awards 2024 are on sale now! 

Taking place on Friday 31 May, the evening is an opportunity to celebrate the incredible athletes, teams and clubs across Imperial Athletes. Tickets cost £45pp and include:

  • 1 glass of sparkling wine on arrival
  • 3 course dinner (set menu)
  • Half bottle of wine per person
  • Half bottle of water per person
  • Tea/Coffee and petit fours

Individuals have the option to substitute the arrival drink and ½ bottle of wine with a mocktail. There's no price difference for the non-alcoholic dinner package. 

Club Tables

Table of 12 for the price of a table of 10 £450 £37.50pp Saving £7.50pp
Table of 10 for the price of a table of 9 £405 £40.50pp Saving £4.50pp

Clubs will be charged for the total cost of the table size they opt for (£450 for a table of 12, or £405 for a table of 10). Clubs can then decided how they pass these costs onto their members.

Award Criteria
Coach of the Year

This award recognises the contribution of the coach; whether they have grown, sustained or progressed the student club and its sport.
Consider the following:

  • Increasing sports opportunities for everyone
  • Widening access to sport for all
  • Innovative coaching approach - what have they done differently that has had a positive impact?
  • Continual professional development - how has the coach acted as a role model?
  • What qualities set the coach apart from others and how have they been effective within your club?
Outstanding Contribution

This award recognises an individual that has gone above and beyond for their sport or physical activity at Imperial. This individual may not necessarily be in the 1st team or participate at elite level, but they have been integral to the functioning of their club's training, events, competitions and general support.
Consider the following:

  • What roles the individual has held in the club
  • How has the individual made a positive impact on others through sport?
  • How has the individual made a positive impact on the environment through sport?
  • How have they delivered beyond expectations?
  • Any scenarios/reasons that promote their hard work
  • How their work will have left a legacy within the club - to the sport and the wider sporting community 
Participation Hero

This award recognises an individual who has show exceptional dedication to a recreational sport programme. This could be someone who has provided coaching, led sessions, helped to develop their teams or a combination of the above
Consider the following:

  • How has the individual developed recreational sport within your club or the wider Imperial community?
  • Number of hours and work spent on the programme
  • How have they built engagement in participation rates within the programme they have worked on?
  • What qualifications and skills does this individual have?
  • Any significant achievements of those engaged within the programme as a direct result of what this individual has delivered?
  • What sets this individual apart as a role model for recreational sport offers?
Sportsman of the Year

This award recognises the performance of an individual male within their club. They should be competing at the highest level and representing Imperial at National or International level.
Consider the following:

  • Achievements of the individual whilst representing Imperial
  • Achievements of the individual whilst representing at National or International level
  • How have their achievements contributed to the club?
Sportswoman of the Year

This award recognises the performance of an individual female within their club. They should be competing at the highest level and representing Imperial at National or International level.
Consider the following:

  • Achievements of the individual whilst representing Imperial
  • Achievements of the individual whilst representing at National or International level
  • How have their achievements contributed to the club?
Club Member of the Year

An individual club member that has shown exceptional dedication to their sport in terms of performance. The individual does not need to be a Scholar Athlete or competing at elite competition level but is someone who has performed above and beyond their expected level of performance, in university sport and sport in general.
Consider the following:

  • Achievements of the individual throughout their time within the club(s)
  • Examples of their dedication to the club(s) and Imperial sporting environment
  • How have their achievements positioned them as a role model for club sport?
  • Have they demonstrated good sportsmanship and adopted an inclusive approach whilst representing the club(s)?
Rising Star

This award recognises a student in their first year of membership to a club. They have shown outstanding dedication, enthusiasm and passion throughout and have shown themselves to be a promising member of the sporting community for the future. This is only applicable to those in their first year of membership to a specific club.
Consider the following:

  • How, in their first year with the club, have they made a significant contribution?
  • Where would you consider this individual to be in the future of the Imperial sporting community?
  • How/what are they already doing for the future?
  • What impact have they made on the club?
Club of the Year

This award recognises a student club that has made an impact on the Imperial College environment.
Consider the following:

  • How has the club performed in competitions where necessary?
  • How has the club encouraged more people to participate?
  • How has the club encouraged elite development and performance for its members?
  • How has the club sustained participation and involvement for everyone at all levels?
  • How has the club worked with other departments within Imperial?
  • What sets this club apart from others that demonstrate why it should be used as a role model club?
Team of the Year

Any team within a sports club that has shown sporting excellence over the season. A team within a club, rather than the club itself. This is a clear example of what other teams should strive to achieve.
Consider the following:

  • Where did the team expect to finish the season with regards to competitions?
  • Were there any unexpected competitions entered?
  • Did anything happen to have a 'stand out' year of achievements within the team?
  • Examples within the team of over-performing
  • Has this team achieved anything off-court as well as on-court?
  • What sets this team apart from others that demonstrate why it should be used as a role model team?
