Travel to the Middle East

Please see the amended guidance below.

There has been a change to the FCDO travel advice in the region since 12 Jan 24 - refer to the relevant country for updates - FCDO advice.

If any member of Imperial’s community has been affected and wishes to return to the UK, the travel insurance policy will cover additional travel costs incurred. Providing:

1.      They are on an insured activity.
2.      The FCDO advice was not in place at the time of booking.

For assistance, please contact Egencia or the original travel agent. The department travel arranger should also be made aware of any changes.

For pre-booked travel, staff and students should contact their airline in the first instance to arrange a refund.  They can then submit a claim to insurers for any monies which has not been refunded.

Please note: - If original return tickets were not already booked, then these costs cannot be claimed as it would have been expected the travellers would have to pay to return in any event.

If staff and students are in the region and wish to relocate to another country other than return to the United Kingdom/original country of departure, please download the AIG business travel app and contact insurers directly who will take each and every case on its own merits depending on individual circumstances.

We ask all travellers affected to speak to their Head of Department and maintain regular dialogue with their Travel Management Team should they have any queries.
