Inspirational career lectures are held in the department by guest speakers, showcasing a variety of roles and career pathways. The lectures are open to all students, and organised by Dr Peter Johnson.

Since June 2019, Karsten leads grow global, the worldwide network of Innovation Hubs of Robert Bosch GmbH, with 8 locations in Asia, the Americas, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
