Looking up at plane flying in a sunny, cloudy day

Abstract

Rapid action is needed from industry and governments to reach zero-emission aviation by 2050.

In efforts to achieve this, the University of Cambridge has been leading a team in developing the 2030 Sustainable Aviation Goals. These four goals demonstrate the ambition needed to achieve zero-emission aviation in an accelerated timeframe.

In this seminar, Professor Robert Miller will present the four goals:

  • Creating policies to ensure that we deliver Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) in a truly sustainable way.

  • Demonstrate the key technologies needed to develop a long-haul hydrogen aircraft.

  • Make sector-wide changes to achieve a 50% reduction in fuel burn per passenger km by 2050.

  • Accelerate the implementation of a global contrail avoidance scheme.

Please see Cassyni for the full technical abstract.
