Return to Clinical Practice Workshops

Next scheduled date: Thursday 21 March 2024 (9am-12pm)

Following a successful pilot in April 2015, general surgical trainees returning to clinical work after a period in research, maternity leave or other prolonged absence will be offered an intense all-day workshop to practice their surgical skills. In common with all the Skills Programme teaching, these workshops will be consultant-led.

Trainee in Difficulty Workshops

Some trainees experiencing technical difficulties with their surgical techniques are being referred to the Surgical Skills Programme by their Training Programme Directors. With targeted, one-to-one, consultant-led teaching, it is hoped that these trainees can be brought up to standards required to ensure patient safety. This is a pilot study at this stage and the outcomes will be closely monitored.
