This course will introduce some of the latest and most significant topics in the area of circuit design of analog/RF ICs for wireless infrastructure communication systems. It will cover circuits like power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, modulators, frequency synthesizers (PLLs), analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs).

The course will provide an organic and accessible coverage of this rather broad subject. The latter, unfortunately, is often only partially found on disconnected sources of specialized technical literature, or in some graduate-level engineering courses, but in a rather piecemeal form. This course would instead aim to provide a sufficiently detailed insight of the individual circuits while, at the same time, give insight on the signal chains as a whole and the inter-relation between its functional blocks.

More information

Course aims

This course will:

  • A comprehensive grounding in the principles associated with analog and RF ICs for wireless systems plus practical information on their design and implementation.
  • Equips the delegates to put the ideas into practice
  • The theoretical knowledge is illustrated by examples and real life case studies
  • Intuitive understanding is prioritized over formal presentation
Who should attend?

The course is aimed for analog IC design practitioners as well as university lecturers and graduate students.

Proficiency with analog IC design is expected in order to be able to attend this course.

Course method

The course consists mainly of lectures and, time permitting, it would include group work on an actual design example of a system line up or a circuit design implementation.
