Access FAQs

The new access gates will provide a more streamlined and efficient entry into and around Ethos. Members will no longer need to ‘check in’ to reception on arrival and will instead simply need to touch your College ID card at the new gates and head through to whichever facility you were planning to use. As well as ensuring better access control, these access points will provide Ethos staff with more advanced usage data, helping us to understand more about how and when members use the facility.

Monday 4th September 2017

The turnstiles will be located at the entrance to Ethos, the Gym Floor and Swimming Pool area.

You will need to ‘swipe in’ and ‘swipe out’ at the turnstiles located at the entrance to Ethos; the gym floor and pool entry will be ‘swipe in’ only with the gates automatically opening to let you out of these areas.

We will have 5 laneways (including one DDA gate) at the entrance to Ethos; up to 120 people can swipe through in one minute.

Yes. All access gates are programmed to open automatically in the event of an emergency.

Your access will be determined by the membership you have and the restrictions on that membership.

There will be a screen located at the entrance to Ethos and Gym indicating the current capacity of the gym. If the maximum number is reached no further entries will be allowed until a member leaves through the turnstiles. Ethos will continue to use a waiting list for members who arrive and the gym is at capacity.

Yes. The reading will be seen in percentage format and updates as members arrive and leave the gym.

Members waiting to use the gym must wait in the seating area to the right of the entrance to Ethos. You will not be allowed to wait in the stairways; members who are found to be waiting here will be directed back downstairs. Refusal to wait in the correct area will result in non-entry to the gym.

If you are a staff of student member you will need to obtain a new card from the ID office before you will be able to gain entry in to Ethos.

Entry in to Ethos will not be allowed if you forget to bring your membership card with you.
