Students and staff at White City and staff at Hammersmith are being offered discounted access to the Westway Sports and Fitness Centre. The Centre is around a 15-minute walk away from the White City Campus and has a 100-station gym and exercise studio, a large climbing wall, tennis courts and artificial floodlit football pitches. For students, there will be an annual membership fee of £65, which runs from 1 September to 31 August. Staff will be offered the monthly rate advertised by Westway.

Students who sign up for services at the Westway Sports and Fitness Centre will also be able to use the swimming pool at the Imperial-run Ethos Centre at South Kensington (there is no swimming pool at the Westway Sports and Fitness Centre).

Students who opt to register for the Westway membership will be unable to use the Ethos gym or SW7 inclusive of the membership.

Upon request, Imperial Westway Student membership includes access to the Hammersmith Hospital Gym and Charing Cross (Reynolds) Gym.

How to join

Information for students

Students studying at White City Campus (Hammersmith Campus) are able to access a gym membership at Westway Sports Centre for a £65 annual fee. If you opt to take the Westway membership will be unable to use the Ethos Gym, however you will have free access to the swimming pool and other Ethos facilities at the student rate. 

Registering for a membership:

Step 1: Visit the membership website 
Step 2: Select “Yes – I have an Imperial College ID”; click “Continue to next section”
Step 3: Enter Imperial College CID number and Date of birth; click “Find details”; if details are correct click “Continue to next section”
Step 4: On the Membership Selection page select “Imperial Westway Student” ; click “Update basket and continue”
Step 5: Work your way through each page ensuring you click on the YouTube link at the top of the “Terms and Conditions” page which contains the orientation video; read the Terms and Conditions and Health Commitment Statement until the membership registration process is completed. You will be asked to pay the £65 annual fee online in the final stages of the registration process.

Accessing Westway Sports Centre:

Step 1: Ethos staff will run a daily report of students who have signed up to the “Imperial Westway Student” membership.

Step 2: Ethos staff will notify and provide Westway Sports Centre staff with the names of students who have registered and paid for the membership.

Step 3: Once Ethos staff have verified your status, it will take 24 hours for your College ID card to be activated to provide you with access to enter Ethos building and use the Swimming Pool, however you will not be able to access Ethos Gym. 

Step 4: You will then need to visit Westway Sports and Fitness Centre, (1 Crowthorne Road, W10 6RP) to activate your membership – please allow 24 hours after registering for a membership before visiting the centre. Upon arrival, say you have taken out an Imperial Westway Student Membership. You will need to provide proof of being a student at Imperial College London by showing your student ID card (if issued) or providing your Student ID number (if you have been issued with a card please bring this with you as it will speed up the process). You will then receive your free EveryoneActive Card which will allow you entry to the centre.

Booking and Cancellation Information

Due to an an ongoing issue with users booking sessions and then not attending without cancelling beforehand, we have introduced a non-cancellation penalty. Any members who miss multiple sessions within a 7-day period will have their booking ability suspended for the following 7 days. Any pre-booked sessions for this timeframe will be cancelled and fully refunded.

Please note: all sessions can be cancelled up until they are due to start via MyLeisureHub. Pay-as-you go members can cancel via ASK (Imperial Staff and Students) or by emailing move@imperial.ac.uk (Other Members).
