Professor Siu-Lai Chan is Chair Professor in Computational Structural Engineering at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Adjunct professor of Tongji University Shanghai, CHINA since 2007,Adjunct Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology, CHINA since 2004,Visiting Professor at Southeast University, Nanjing, CHINA since 1995,and Visiting Associate Professor at Purdue University, U.S.A. in 1993. Prof SL Chan is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE) - Registered Professional Engineer in Hong Kong(RPE) - Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, U.K. (MIStructE) - Chartered Engineer, U.K.(CEng) - His interests lie in Steel Structures, Analysis and Design of Steel Structures, Second-order Analysis, Nonlinear Analysis, Buckling, Stability, Glass Structures, Scaffoldings, Fire in Steel Structures with experience in authoring 300+ publications and completion of a number of iconic and conventional steel structure design by linear and second-order direct analysis to Eurocode-3-1-1 and Hong Kong Steel Code 2005 and 2011 and he was a principal team member for the recipient of the structural excellence award by the Joint IStructE/HKIE in 2013 for the design of the flower dome in Singapore without effective length assumption.
Professor Leroy Gardner is Professor of Structural Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of both the Institutions of Civil (FICE) and Structural (FIStructE) Engineers. He is engaged in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, specialist advisory work and leading an active steel structures research group. His principal research interests, in respect of which he has co-authored four textbooks and some 200 papers, lie in the areas of structural testing, numerical modelling and the development of design guidance for steel structures. He is a member of the European and BSI Committees responsible for Eurocode 3. He is also Editor-in-Chief the International Journal of Steel Structures, and the new research journal of the Institution of Structural Engineers - 'Structures'.
Stephen McCrory is a Director of NIDA Europe Ltd and a graduate of Queens University Belfast with Diploma of Imperial College and Postgraduate Master’s Degree from Imperial College in General Structures. Stephen has spent nearly twenty years as a full time civil/structural design engineer and project manager and has recently been involved in research and development projects at NIDA and Imperial College. He is experienced in the design of slender steel structures, scaffolds and temporary works, project management and process engineering. His interests lie in nonlinear flexible steel structures, numerical modelling and structural stability.
