Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust incorporates two neonatal units both of which care for very preterm and sick infants. The neonatal units adopt a multi disciplinary team approach to the support of mothers’ lactation and breastfeeding. The implementation of guidelines developed by the MD team have resulted in improved breastfeeding rates on discharge for preterm infants.
