Renewable Traction Power project
The Renewable Traction Power project was an Innovate UK-funded project looking at the feasibility of using track-side solar panels to provide electricity to power trains.
It was a collaboration between four organisations, 10:10, Turbo Power Systems, Community Energy South and Energy Futures Lab.
The initial project began on 1 February 2017 and funded through Innovate UK’s Energy Game Changers programme.
You can find more details in the project launch announcement.
The team released the feasibility study in November 2017 at an event in the London Transport Museum.
The feasibility report [PDF] is available to download.
