The College's long-standing and fruitful partnership with Shell continues to strengthen and develop, with many successful initiatives launching in recent months.
The continuous dialogue between our academics and Shell's staff has led to an impressive and diverse research portfolio, spanning nine departments and involving over 100 academics researchers.
2016 highlights
2016 saw the launch of the Digital Rocks Programme, an exciting initiative which involves four Departments across the Faculties of Engineering and Natural Sciences. This ground breaking programme aims to revolutionise reservoir characterisation and brings together three International Academic partners.
The Faculty also welcomed to the Shell-Imperial portfolio our collaboration with Brazil under the Sustainable Gas Institute - a close collaboration with partners in Brazil to develop an understanding of the role of natural gas in the global energy landscape.
Alongside this, core programmes in Materials, Fuels and Lubricants and Carbon Capture and Storage continue to grow and deliver impactful results.
2016 also saw the launch of the Shell-Imperial Advanced Interfacial Materials Science (AIMS) Centre, which aims to deliver new insights into materials behaviour and enabling optimal materials selection, design and enhanced predicative capabilities.
Further proof of the strength of this relationship comes as twenty of our graduates in the past year have chosen Shell as a first employer.
