Course overview

Develop your appreciation of biochemistry on this three-year course, which includes a final year spent with the Imperial College Business School.

During your first two years, you'll explore the fundamentals of biological chemistry, molecular biology, integrative cell biology and genes and genomics.

You'll also consider the commercial aspects of the biochemistry and biotechnology industries, including commercialising technology, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property and patents.

With teaching enriched by the Department's internationally leading research programme, you'll learn through lectures and case studies from business leaders and academics.

Through laboratory, computational and field work, you'll acquire the skills required to design, carry out and analyse the data from biochemical experiments.

Your studies will be complemented by a Life Science Skills programme where you'll be trained in quantitative skills, programming, statistics, and scientific writing and presentation.

Your final year will be spent with the Imperial College Business School, with the emphasis on preparing you for leadership roles.

This will help you build expertise in accounting, entrepreneurship and marketing as you examine the management culture of business organisations.
