Chevening Scholarships are the United Kingdom (UK) government's scholarship programme; usually awarded to scholars wishing to undertake postgraduate courses at UK universities.

Chevening Scholarships at Imperial College London are awarded to scholars with a high level of academic excellence and outstanding leadership potential, from across the globe.

The scholarship is a full scholarship and awarded to scholars for any one-year postgraduate taught degrees, excluding MBA programmes and joint courses with other institutions

Eligibility

To be considered for the Chevening – Imperial College London Scholarship (India), you must:

  1. be able to demonstrate that you have achieved a minimum English language requirement. All Imperial students must have a good command of the English language. Please see the Imperial College London English language requirement webpage for full details of entry requirements
  2. be a citizen of India at the time of applying for the award, and intend to return there at the end of the period of study (please see the Chevening Scholarships: frequently asked questions page)
  3. hold a degree that is equivalent to at least an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree. Further information on UK degree equivalency can be found from UK ENIC
  4. have completed at least two years' work experience
  5. return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended
  6. select one of the eligible degree programmes below as your first choice
  7. apply and have received an unconditional offer by 11 July 2025 – you must select Imperial as your first preferred university choice

All one-year postgraduate taught degrees, excluding MBA programmes and joint courses with other institutions.

How to apply

Prospective students should apply and submit applications electronically and directly through the Chevening website. It is also strongly recommended that you simultaneously apply to Imperial indicating which course you wish to study. 

What the scholarship includes:

  1. the full (overseas) tuition fees
  2. a full maintenance allowance
  3. an allowance package
  4. a return airfare (economy class) to your home country
