Eligibility criteria

To be considered for a GREAT – Imperial College London Scholarship you must:

  • be a passport holder and a resident one of the eligible countries: France, Greece, Italy, Pakistan or Spain
  • have been classified as Overseas for fee status
  • apply for a one-year full-time Master's course (on campus courses only) from the faculties/ School being eligible for the scholarships:   
    • Applicants from France, Greece, Italy and Spain - all faculties, Science Communication Unit and Business School;
    • Applicants from Pakistan – all faculties and Science Communication Unit, but EXCLUDING Business School
  • have received an offer of admission to study for a one-year full-time Master's Course from the eligible list as abovementioned by 28 March 2025
  • be available to commence your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in Autumn 2025-26.

You are not eligible if:

  • You hold dual British citizenship
  • Your course is an on-line/distance learning course
  • The duration of your course is longer than one year

Additional requirements

In addition to the above eligibility, applicants who are awarded this scholarship will be required to have met College English entry requirements (Pre-sessional English courses are not supported by this programme) by 30 June 2025. If you have not met the English entry requirements yet, please make the necessary arrangements as soon as possible to ensure you meet this requirement by 30 June 2025.

Please note: This scholarship is not available to continuing students.

Application process

Stage 1: Apply for a one-year full-time Master's course at Imperial College London by 16 January 2025; or by 9 January 2025 for Master's courses at the Business School. 

You must submit an application for a master’s course through the standard College application procedure and have an offer of admission by the deadline of 11:59 pm (UK local time), Friday, 28 March 2025.

Important

  • To be invited to apply for the scholarship, when you apply online through My Imperial, you must ensure you have selected, in section "Nationality", one of the eligible countries (France, Greece, Italy, Pakistan or Spain) as either primary nationality or secondary nationality; and in section "Residency", one of the eligible countries as your country of permanent residence. 
  • Some departments have application rounds for the postgraduate taught courses, with fixed application dates throughout the year.  Some departments require you to apply by January 2025 to get a decision by March 2025.  Stage 2: Eligible candidates will be invited to apply for the scholarship

During the week commencing 14 April 2025, eligible students who have received an offer of admission to study at the College for Autumn 2025-26 will be contacted via email and invited to complete a GREAT Scholarship application form.

How much is it worth?

Each  GREAT – Imperial College London Scholarship - 2025 is worth:

  • £15,000 towards tuition fees 

The scholarship can only be used towards tuition fees.

How many scholarships are available?

There are five awards in total (one each for France, Greece, Italy, Pakistan and Spain). 

Outcome of the award

The successful candidates will be notified by email no later than 30 June 2025.  If you have not heard from us by this date, please assume you have been unsuccessful in your application.

Please note that the successful scholars will be expected to meet informally with the donors on occasions, and will be required to submit a short statement of progress each year that will be shared with the donors.

This award is for students starting in the Autumn 2025-26 and cannot be deferred.  All scholarships are awarded subject to students accepting award Terms and Conditions.
