The Sustainability Strategy Committee is responsible for overseeing the goals, priorities and implementation of the Sustainability Strategy at Imperial. The committee is a formal subcommittee of University Management Board.

This committee includes a representative from every Faculty, as well as from relevant operational teams, students union, trade union and education representatives. It is supported by working groups to drive progress on particular issues and an academic expert group to bring our academic expertise to bear in support of sustainability of our operations.

We have student representation on other formal committees as well as the Sustainability Strategy Committee, such as the SRI Policy Working Group and the SRI Engagement Monitoring Panel, and the People & Culture Committee (a formal subcommittee of University Management Board).

Our Education for Sustainability Committee will be set up later in the summer. This committee will report to the Sustainability Strategy Committee as well as the Education Committee. Mike Tennant, Vice-Dean (Education) in Faculty of Natural Sciences is leading this work. Learn more about the aims, terms of reference and membership here: Education Sustainability Committee

Faculty level

There are representatives from every Faculty on the College Sustainability Strategy Committee. Alongside this, Faculties have, or are establishing, their own sustainability committees composed of departmental representatives to drive sustainability locally. In turn, many academic departments are now establishing sustainability committees with staff and student representatives.
