Accommodation Code of practice
All of Imperial’s directly owned halls are signed up to the Student Accommodation Code, which protects your rights to safe, good quality accommodation and sets out what you should expect from your accommodation. Find out more at TheSAC.org.uk
Services in halls
Get online - internet and phone
Internet is included in your accommodation fee, however you’ll need to bring your own Ethernet cable to get connected. All halls also have Wi-Fi, although the strength of this connection can vary dependent on location and cannot be guaranteed in all areas.
Due to the construction of many of our halls, we cannot guarantee Wi-Fi in the bedrooms. A wired connection is faster and more stable.
Your room phone number will be (020) 785 + extension which you will find on your phone handset when you arrive. If calling from abroad it will be +44 20 785 + extension. For Kemp Porter Buildings your room phone number will be (020)391 + extension which you will find on your phone handset. If calling from abroad it will be +44 20 391 + extension. Internal calls to other rooms and phones within Imperial are free but to make an external call you will need to set this up separately.

Cleaning
We are increasing the frequency we clean communal areas within our halls - however everyone needs to play their part to keep the halls safe and clean. Please be advised there may be adjustments made to cleaning schedules at short notice.
Check local notices for cleaning schedules for communal areas and kitchens. Any unwashed crockery or cutlery may be placed in special bins in the kitchen and promptly disposed of, so you should make sure to wash everything up immediately after use.
Your room will be cleaned once a month, however we advise that you keep your room as tidy as possible as rooms that are especially dirty will not be cleaned. If you have any issues relating to cleaning please report them to your Hall Supervisor. The cleaners do not do your washing up or tidying so make sure that surfaces and your floor area are clear.
You are responsible for the cleanliness of your room and kitchen. A mop, bucket and dustpan and brush will be provided in each kitchen. A vacuum cleaner is provided in communal areas and cleaning materials can be purchased from the local convenience store.
Laundry
The laundry room is fitted with cashless washing machines and tumble dryers which can be operated using the Circuit Mobile App. Please visit the Apple App Store or Google Play to download the Circuit Laundry App for free (search for ‘Circuit Laundry’) – once downloaded you can top-up your credit whenever you need to and use the QR scan option to operate the machines. If you do not have an iPhone or Android phone, please contact your Hall Supervisor once you have arrived for further information on how to use the launderette facilities.
We recommend that you bring some washing detergent with you – a two-in-one washing liquid (rather than washing powder) would be best! For more information, please visit Circuit Laundry - there’s even a ‘how your laundry works video’ which shows you how to use the machines.
You will have a laundry basket in your bedroom and an iron and ironing board can be found in the laundry room.
Reporting Maintenance Issues
If you notice any defects such as leaking taps, lights that are not working or any breakages please report them online using the halls online defect form by email, ensuring you quote your room number, or directly with the Concierge team at main reception. In an emergency, call the Hall Supervisor, Reception or the Duty Warden outside of office hours. Depending on the urgency, defects will be dealt with in a matter of hours or days.
