Self-Isolating in Halls
There may be times whilst staying in halls that you will need to self-isolate. If you are unwell and test positive for COVID-19, you should let us know by completing the halls reporting form and isolate for 5 days, or until you feel better. Unless you are in a twin room or standard room with shared bathroom facilities, you will not be automatically contacted by hall staff or wardens.
However, if you need further medical advice and support, please reach out and contact your Hall Supervisor or Warden.
When will I need to self-isolate?
Following the latest guidance from the UK Government, the legal requirement to self-isolate has ended. However, in order to keep our community safe, we strongly advise you to self-isolate if you receive a positive COVID-19 test.

FAQs for those self-isolating because they are symptomatic and/or have a positive COVID-19 test
How will I get food if I am isolating?
If you are self-isolating due to having a positive COVID-19 test, you will need to arrange food locally. This may involve ordering food or groceries from providers such as Deliveroo, JustEat, UberEats or from local supermarkets. Ideally, you should arrange with a friend/fellow hall resident to collect any deliveries for you.
If you do need to use your kitchen, be sure to wear a face covering, limit your use to quiet times and clean up thoroughly after use.
How will I use the bathroom if I am not in an en-suite room?
If you test positive for COVID-19 and are in a twin room or a non en-suite room, please seek advice from your hall staff or warden. When using shared bathroom facilities please ensure you are wearing a face covering and clean up thoroughly after use. There may be some circumstances where you will be asked moved to an en-suite isolation room within your hall.
What happens if someone in my household develops symptoms?
As part of the UK Government's Living with COVID-19 plan, you are no longer required to self-isolate as a close contact of someone with COVID-19. If you receive a positive COVID-19 test, you are strongly advised to self-isolate as per the guidance above.
Can I use the laundry if I'm Self-isolating?
To protect others your hall, we advise against using the laundry whilst needing to self-isolate. However, if it is absolutely necessary to do so, limit your visit to quiet times and wear a face covering.
