The new scholarship programme will help to build a pathway for the next generation of Lebanese leaders to gain international study experience and to play key roles in the future development of Lebanon.

It will help fund 18 Master’s scholars from Lebanon over the next three years.

Eligibility

To be considered for a CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Lebanon Scholarship you must:

1. be Lebanese nationals ordinarily resident in Lebanon
2. be able to demonstrate that you have come from a financially disadvantaged background
3. have been classified as Overseas for fee status
4. be applying for a one-year full-time Master's course (MSc and MRes)
5. have received an offer of admission to study for a one-year full-time Master's course from the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Imperial College Business School or Science Communication Unit by Thursday 11 April 2024
6. be available to commence your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September or October 2024

Non-eligibility

You are not eligible if:

1. you apply for an MBA course or joint courses with other institutions
2. the duration of your course is longer than one year

Additional requirements

In addition to the above eligibility, applicants who are awarded this scholarship will be required to have met College English entry requirements (Pre-sessional English courses are not supported by this programme) by 30 June 2024. If you have not met the English entry requirements yet, please make the necessary arrangements as soon as possible to ensure you meet this requirement by 30 June 2024.

How to apply

Stage 1: Apply for a one-year full-time Master's course at Imperial

You must submit an application for a master’s course through the standard College application procedure and have an offer of admission by the deadline of 23.59 (UK local time), Thursday 11 April 2024.

Application fee

If you're applying for a postgraduate course at Imperial, you may need to pay an application fee. You can check whether you are eligible for an application fee waiver and more information on our application fees page.

Stage 2: Eligible candidates will be invited to apply for the scholarship

During the week commencing 28 April 2024, eligible students who have received an offer of admission to study at the College for 2024 entry will be contacted via email and invited to complete a CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Lebanon application form.

Applicants will be assessed on academic merit or potential through the standard admission process. Applicants will be required to successfully demonstrate that they come from a financially disadvantaged background and this will be assessed through the information provided on the scholarship application.

Additional information

How much is it worth?

Each CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Lebanon scholarship covers full (overseas) tuition fees and provides an annual stipend of £19,500.

Travel costs such as flights, visa application costs and more are not included as part of this scholarship.

How many scholarships are available?

There are currently six awards available for 2024-25.

Outcome of the award

The successful candidates will be notified by email no later than end of June 2024. If you have not heard from us by this date, please assume you have been unsuccessful in your application.

Please note that the successful scholars will be expected to meet informally with the donors on occasions, and will be required to submit a short statement of progress each year that will be shared with the donors.

This award is for students starting in the academic year 2024-25 and cannot be deferred. All scholarships are awarded subject to students accepting award Terms and Conditions.
