The Student Engagement Insights Project is an Imperial wide project commissioned by the Student Lifecycle Administration Board to provide a solution to Departments to capture and validate student engagement with their programme of study. The scope was to develop a solution that could be used as a tool to support attendance monitoring of timetabled student events however, was primarily aimed as an engagement wellbeing tool that could provide insights to support students and improve the overall learning experience.
The pilot is using a mobile app which students are asked to download. Personalised timetable information is presented on the app and student are able to check in to their events in the teaching space. Bluetooth beacon technology is being installed in pilot teaching space that validates and confirms that the student has checked in to the expected room based on the timetable information.
This infomation is presented to the pilot Department in order to provide valuable data to be used to support students and improve the overall learning experience.
