I
n 2011 – 2012, 35 Business School students were
awarded scholarships to support them through their
studies. Two students received £10,000 each through
the
, which is solely funded by the kind
donations of supporters of Imperial College.
The Fund was launched in June 2011 to offer
scholarships to students who might otherwise not be
able to accept their place at Imperial College due to
financial reasons. It enables the College and Business
School to continue to attract talented students from all
financial and academic backgrounds, and help them
reach their potential. The Business School is one of the
four faculties that have benefitted from the Fund.
One of those to receive a scholarship was Anna-
Margarita Papadakes (MSc Management 2012):
“Without the scholarship from the Rector’s Fund,
I would not have been able to participate in the
one postgraduate course which I thought would
give me the opportunities and abilities to reach my
full potential. But in the end gave me even more!
At my time at the Business School I met the most
interesting people and built the most valuable
inter-disciplinary network of like-minded friends from
around the world.”
One way we support the continuation of the Rector’s
Fund is through a telethon organised by Imperial
College. In 2011 over £381,000 was pledged by 1,344
alumni donors across the College during the autumn
telethon appeal alone.
Thirty five students called alumni in the UK, USA
and Europe to share news about Imperial and seek
donations to support scholarships and bursaries for
undergraduate and postgraduate students at the
College and the Business School.
A huge thank you to all those alumni who have
donated, your support really does make a difference.
