Celebrating our global
connections
Spanning all six continents, the Business School alumni
network is a diverse group, providing international
connections across all industry sectors. Wherever
you may be living or working, there are excellent
opportunities for you to connect with fellow alumni.
T
hese connections are strengthened by our support network of
who are alumni volunteers providing international liaison
with alumni, students and prospective students in their individual countries.
Whether you are looking to reconnect with the Business School, thinking about
relocating to another country or want to develop a local professional network,
your Country Correspondent is there to help.
Here we spotlight two of our Correspondents who organised events as part of the
Global Alumni Celebration 2012.
What do you enjoy about being a Country Correspondent?
What I most enjoy is the opportunity to create synergy amongst the alumni
currently residing here. I think that the Brazilian Imperial College Business School
alumni have a lot more in common than meets the eye: we have all experienced
the same quality education that the Business School has to offer. Furthermore,
we are all working or striving to succeed in what is most likely becoming the most
promising economy of the Twenty-first century. Getting the alumni here together
is a great pleasure, and has given me the opportunity to meet wonderful and
talented people from across the globe!
Why is the alumni network so important to you?
I believe that networking is essential for one’s development. And I am not
only referring to the arduous job-searching phase that we all go through, but
networking can surely create business opportunities and be a possible driver for
innovation. Especially for Imperial, an innovation-driven institution, I believe that
the alumni network, specifically in Brazil (where innovation is still quite scarce) is
surely a great opportunity for all members of the alumni group.
What do you enjoy about being
a Country Correspondent?
It is good to stay connected with the Business
School, even though I live many miles away and do
not often get the chance to come back to London.
Being a Country Correspondent allows me to stay in
touch with the School, and I like to hear what is going
on. It also allows me to pull together for the first time
the (small) alumni group that lives and works in this
part of the world.
Why is the alumni network so important to you?
As with any network, one tends to pick up a few
new insights about the country, business or life in
general. Unexpected good things tend to come out
of networking. So if I can add a little to that it is a
positive step forward!
