Using Group Discussions at Imperial....
There are a number of options available for supporting Group Discussion activities at Imperial. There are a number of collaboration tools available in Blackboard; Ed Discussion integrates with Blackboard courses and provides a more modern discussion board interface. Mentimeter is great for live polling your audience during a meeting or lecture.
Ed Discussion
ed discussion is a question and answer discussion board used for teaching and learning. It can be accessed through a Blackboard Learn course or directly through the ed discussion website, via the Imperial College single sign-on.
Mentimeter
Mentimeter is a survey and polling presentation tool that can be used to gauge the opinions or knowledge of your audience. It provides a selection of question types and enables you to view live feedback through your web-browser. Participation from the audience is browser based and can take place on desktop, laptop or mobile devices.
Blackboard
Blackboard Learn is the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) used at Imperial College. Staff and students automatically have access. You can use Blackboard to:
- Deliver courses online
- Communicate to staff and students through online discussion
- Set and receive assignments, tests and surveys
- Track progress and manage grades
