Evelyn Hugh John Boscawen, 8th Viscount Falmouth became Chairman of the Governing Body at Imperial College in 1947. This was a time of great change and expansion for the College and he was chairman of the Finance and Executive Committee for 25 years.

Falmouth was educated at Cambridge and trained as an engineer. He took great interest in the research and teaching at Imperial and worked with the Rectors, Sir Roderick Hill and Sir Patrick Linstead to make a great contribution to College life. He was made a Fellow in 1944 and served as Chairman for six years between 1947 and 1952.
