Expedition Report
The expedition team planned first boulder ascents of grade ranges up to V8 in Iceland. In Iceland, which has a limited climbing season, there are still largely unexplored bouldering areas on the south coast and the east and west fjords. The rock is of volcanic origin. During the expedition in the first half of August the group aimed to develop their boulder first ascents skills, pass on the experience of organising a bouldering trip, and document all new climbs for future climbers. The team enjoyed Iceland’s spectacular rugged landscape, and managed to visit waterfalls, and a fumarole, and saw lava fields and glaciers, witnessing innumerable huge icebergs break from the main glaciers.
In addition to funding provided by the Exploration Board this expedition was supported by the Old Centralians' Trust.
